THE WAR IN IRAQ
The reason the United States and Iraq were at war is unclear. Saudi Arabia was asking the U.S to leave their country for quite some time but they did not listen. They named one particular man, Osama Bin Laden, as the man who had hatched several terrorist attack plans against the U.S, the most devastating being the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Then he went in to hiding after those events. President Bush vowed to bring this man to justice. The information on why we invaded Iraq was that they had weapons of mass destruction. Later, no weapons were ever found. But Iraq was liberated from their longtime dictator, Saddam Hussein. On October 21, 2011, President Obama announced that all U.S. troops and trainers would leave iraq by the end of next year. Bringing the U.S mission to Iraq at an end. But later, on December 15, 2011, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta offically the war in Iraq was over. At a flag lowering ceromony in Baghdad, the last U.S. troops left Iraqi territory on December 18, 2011, at 4:27 UTC.
